Bab Rizq Jameel plans to create 500,000 jobs in 2015 through its Middle East and North Africa branches
After announcing the successful creation of 41,000 jobs in Saudi Arabia during 2009, Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ), a program of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Services Programs (ALJCSP), announced the creation of 8,323 jobs through its branches in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region during the past year 2009.
In Egypt, the first International BRJ center was launched in Cairo after official approval from the Ministry of Social Security to start BRJ operations was received. The BRJ Cairo branch created 6,910 job opportunities through financing small projects and productive household programs. Approximately 254 small projects and 6,656 females have been supported through these two programs.
In Syria, BRJ started financing small projects and productive household programs in Tartoos city, and created 1,413 job opportunities during the year 2009.
Maaz Al Faramawi, Managing Director of the first international BRJ center stated that the first BRJ center in Egypt had been established as a center for job creation through several programs, such as taxi ownership, truck ownership, direct employment, small projects or other programs. During 2009, BRJ center in Egypt started financing small projects and productive household programs, while other programs will be launched soon, including land reclamation and animal resources development.
Al Faramawi added that BRJ Syria has now obtained a license from the Syrian Government to start operations as a microfinance institution. BRJ activities in Syria will immediately be leveraged as soon as the bank procedures are completed. According to Al Faramawi, research work is currently being conducted to open BRJ branches in Turkey and Morocco. The plans for BRJ international branches for the year 2010 aim to create 25,000 job opportunities.
Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, President of ALJCSP announced that BRJ is planning to create 500,000 jobs in the year 2015 through its diversified branches in MEANA region.
In 2009, BRJ Saudi Arabia created 41,000 job opportunities through its diversified programs, which are implemented through 20 BRJ branches throughout different areas of the Kingdom and operated by 400 young males and females.
